I had the privilege to play for the 45th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Robertson, owners of Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. Because of their love for the bagpipes, the staff at Whispering Pines called Houston Bagpiper to have a piper play for the couple as they had a private dinner on the lake at the golf course. This was a surprise for the couple and they had no idea that I was going to be there for them.
The staff took me out on a golf cart to wait for the Robertson’s to arrive at the house on the lake. As they were arriving, I was driven across the fairway towards the house to play as they walked in the house for appetizers. I played as they walked towards the house.
I could see Mr. and Mrs. Robertson were appreciative of what the staff had done for them. I continued to play for the honored couple for about 50 minutes, as they sat on the patio overlooking the beautiful lake.
When it was time for their main coarse, I ended with Amazing Grace as they looked over the lake in appreciation of this beautiful day. When I finished playing, Mr. and Mrs. Robertson walked over to express their thankfulness for my bagpipe service. We took a few photos and I made my way home.
I have played the bagpipes for golf tournaments held at Whispering Pines Golf Club on many occasions, but it was a true honor to play privately for the owners on their wedding anniversary.
